Magic: The Gathering Star Trek: release dates, spoilers and what is in the set

Magic’s next Universes Beyond set is Star Trek. It reaches tabletop November 13, 2026, previews have been running since October 20, and the complete card image gallery goes up October 30. The set marks 60 years of Star Trek and pulls from across the franchise rather than one show.

Key dates

  • October 20: debut stream on the Magic YouTube and Twitch channels, with previews starting the next day.
  • October 30: complete card image gallery on magic.wizards.com.
  • November 6 to 12: Prerelease events at local game stores.
  • November 10: MTG Arena release, a few days ahead of paper.
  • November 13: tabletop release.

One wrinkle: Commander decks may reach North American stores after November 13. Boosters and Prerelease Packs are on schedule.

Who is in it

The product page names James T. Kirk, Spock, Picard and Q. The four Commander decks add Captain Janeway, Worf, Kor, Uhura, Chekov, the Borg Queen and Locutus, and we go through those decks in a separate guide. Starships appear as Spacecraft artifacts, with the Enterprise-E and the Defiant already confirmed. Tribbles are a token type. Worf introduces a new ability word, battlefront.

Headliner cards

Collector Boosters have a chance at Headliner cards, which are hand-signed by Star Trek actors. Each one is one of a kind. They are printed in English only but can turn up in a Collector Booster of any language. In a game they are identical to the regular version of the same card; the signature is the whole point. Do not buy Collector Boosters expecting to pull one. They are rare, and Wizards has not published odds.

Products

  • Play Boosters, for drafting and building decks.
  • Collector Boosters, with rares, traditional foils, a full-art land and the chance at a Headliner card.
  • Four Commander decks, plus Collector’s Edition versions in surge foil.
  • Bundle, and a Beam Me Up Bundle with ship schematics, full-art Away Team lands, Play Boosters and a Collector Booster.
  • Draft Night, a self-contained kit for a four-player Pick-Two draft.
  • Two Scene Boxes, Divergent Timeline and Enterprise-Q, each with six borderless Scene cards.
  • Prerelease Packs, available only at Prerelease events.

Play Boosters or Collector Boosters?

If you want to play the set, buy Play Boosters. They are built for Draft and Sealed and are where most of your deck will come from. Collector Boosters are for foils and alternate art, and they cost a lot more per card. If what you actually want is a Commander deck, buy the Commander deck. It is cheaper than cracking packs hoping to assemble one.

Where to follow spoilers

Use the official card image gallery. It updates each weekday morning during preview season with the previous day’s cards, and the full set is scheduled for October 30. Screenshots passed around on social are sometimes fakes or early drafts, so check the gallery before you plan a deck around something.
